Hi, I have a 3.5 year old, a 18month old and a 6month old baby. We currently have 2 booster seats and a rearward facing convertible seat squeezed along the back of our Toyota Aurion sedan. The problem is when we turn the baby’s seat forward facing, it no longer fits. Are there slim line carseats &/or booster seats available in Australia? I would prefer to buy new carseats then having to buy a whole new car! I would also prefer to buy models that would take the them from toddler right up to age 7 if possible… Can anyone help?
I have measured the backseat and it is 1.25m.

My son is 4 years old and small for his age (about 34 lbs), and he’s always been in a car seat with a five point harness. We have a Britax Marathon and Sunshine Kids Radian. Both seats are solid and heavy with the latch system to attach them to my car. He recently has been complaining that the strap between his legs in the Britax hurts his "wee wee". I’ve tried loosening the straps a bit, but he still complains. I know he’s at the age where the booster seat is an option, but I’m hesitant to allow him to ride in one for safety reasons. I’m afraid the seatbelt won’t sit properly against his waist, cut into his neck, and allow his head to slump when he falls asleep (which he does often on car rides). Are there any seats that have a more suitable five point harness that will fit an older child, or any very safe booster seats that you can recommend? I was hoping they still make booster seats with the latch system to hold the seat in place so it doesn’t slide around in the car when not in use.

I am traveling to Florida on Thursday with my 5 year old daughters, and here in our state my daughters are still required to sit in a car seat, but in Florida, according to the law they don’t need one. We are only going to be in a car from the airport to our resort, and then again from the resort to the airport. When you bring the booster seats, or don’t worry about them??
I just can’t decide if I should, and have to bother carrying them both around the airport, or just skip them.
That is where I am kind of torn too, as I still think they are a little too young to not be in the booster, but then I am like it is just to the hotel. But then anything can happen during that time. But then I don’t want to carry them around, plus everything else, and keep an eye on m girls. UGH.

Generally, convertible car seats allow rear facing up to 35 pounds, yet booster seats that use just the seat belt allow use from 30 pounds and 34 inches tall. Hypothetically, I could put my toddler in a belt-positioning booster seat sooner than he would outgrow the rear facing limits of his convertible seat. Why is there such an overlap in acceptable use limits? (Our state child restraint laws just say that a 5 point harness is recommended up to 40 pounds but not required, for what that’s worth.)

My daughter is 10 months and well over 20 lbs. we have to get her a new seat and are wondering whether we can go straight to a booster? There are booster seats that apparently go from 20lbs.
Also, what is the most functional (easy to install and easy to use) car seat?
A lot of the seats that are considered "booster seats", here in Canada, do have a 5 point harness. SO I’m not even sure what the difference is, other than the fact that most are not rearfacing.

Okay, so lots of people have asked this question & get answers like go buy an expedition….I only have about 00 to spend and need something good on gas mileage. I currently have a 5 (almost 6, but only 36 pounds) 4 (almost 5) and 5 month old. The older ones are in booster seats and the baby is in a regular car seat rearfacing. Please no speeches on not having any more babies, got my tubes tied last week, thanks. I know a chrysler cirrus will work, but just want to have several options to look at…maybe a camry or a malibu…also i am not interested in buying the latest slim new carseats…just a newer bigger car….thanks so much
honda accord doesn’t work…have one now

Yet school buses for pre-school and up doesn’t require car seats for the students that still require them in their parents vehicle by law?
It just seems strange that kids up to age 10 or 11 sometimes still need booster seats, yet for public transportation, you don’t need a seat belt or car seat. Even infants on public buses. Why not?

My twins are 9 and I have heard conflicting reports about whether they need to be in a child car seat. My daughter is over 5 feet tall and my son is just under 5 feet tall. She weighs just over 100 lbs and he weighs 90 lbs. They always sit in the back seat of the car, which I know is law until they’re 12, but they don’t need any booster seats anymore, right?

I really want a car seat that just comes out and hooks right on the stroller….so I don’t have to take the baby out of the car seat & put her in another seat, wake her up, etc. But I think the convertible car seat is a good idea so I don’t have to buy a new car seat every few months. They have ones now that are 5 point car seats that go from infant, to toddler, to booster seats. What did you use for your infant/toddler? What would you reccomend? I was thinking of getting the travel system and the convertible seat too.
WI MOM- Wow…..I was asking about what the best stroller and car seats are for infants. Who said anything about not holding my child!? I said I was thinking about the travel system because if I have the baby in a seperate car seat, I will have to unbuckle & move her to another seat which will wake her up etc. If I’m going some where it’s a lot easier to just pick the car seat up and attach it to the stroller without having to disturb my newborn child! Please stay off of the parenting posts because you’re obviously a psycho, judgemental person. All I asked was what the best stroller is…….I will be a good mom!
