Hi, I have a 3.5 year old, a 18month old and a 6month old baby. We currently have 2 booster seats and a rearward facing convertible seat squeezed along the back of our Toyota Aurion sedan. The problem is when we turn the baby’s seat forward facing, it no longer fits. Are there slim line carseats &/or booster seats available in Australia? I would prefer to buy new carseats then having to buy a whole new car! I would also prefer to buy models that would take the them from toddler right up to age 7 if possible… Can anyone help?
I have measured the backseat and it is 1.25m.

My son will be 2 next month. He is currently in a convertible car seat, but we’re expecting #2 come November. My son was into his convertible car seat by 5 months old because he outgrew the infant carrier (we couldn’t get him buckled in – he’s tall). So, I was thinking about getting a booster seat for when he’s 2.5 years old (so our new son will be about 5-6 months then and likely into the convertible car seat), but it’s my understanding now that he shouldn’t be in a booster until he’s 4 years old. Is this true?
And, if so, I would like to buy a bigger convertible car seat for him then that would last much longer. Can you suggest something? I’m at a loss.
What car seats do you have?
Thanks!
We currently have this convertible car seat: http://www.evenflo.com/product.aspx?id=148&pfid=2760 – Evenflo Triumph Advance LX.

Okay, so lots of people have asked this question & get answers like go buy an expedition….I only have about 00 to spend and need something good on gas mileage. I currently have a 5 (almost 6, but only 36 pounds) 4 (almost 5) and 5 month old. The older ones are in booster seats and the baby is in a regular car seat rearfacing. Please no speeches on not having any more babies, got my tubes tied last week, thanks. I know a chrysler cirrus will work, but just want to have several options to look at…maybe a camry or a malibu…also i am not interested in buying the latest slim new carseats…just a newer bigger car….thanks so much
honda accord doesn’t work…have one now

I really want a car seat that just comes out and hooks right on the stroller….so I don’t have to take the baby out of the car seat & put her in another seat, wake her up, etc. But I think the convertible car seat is a good idea so I don’t have to buy a new car seat every few months. They have ones now that are 5 point car seats that go from infant, to toddler, to booster seats. What did you use for your infant/toddler? What would you reccomend? I was thinking of getting the travel system and the convertible seat too.
WI MOM- Wow…..I was asking about what the best stroller and car seats are for infants. Who said anything about not holding my child!? I said I was thinking about the travel system because if I have the baby in a seperate car seat, I will have to unbuckle & move her to another seat which will wake her up etc. If I’m going some where it’s a lot easier to just pick the car seat up and attach it to the stroller without having to disturb my newborn child! Please stay off of the parenting posts because you’re obviously a psycho, judgemental person. All I asked was what the best stroller is…….I will be a good mom!

He is just about 3 years old & is still in the car seat we put him in around 8 months old. When should I put him in one of those booster seats? Not the regular booster…but the high back booster…He is probably around 33 lbs I’m guessing.

I am 35 weeks pregnant. I have a 6 year old who has a booster seat for the car, a 4 year old who has a car seat that has a sort of bar thing in front of her when she is buckled, and a 2 year old who has a car seat that buckles in front and between his legs. Soon I will have my fourth baby and of course she will be in a rear facing car seat.
We drive a four door dodge ram. We will need to put one of the children in the middle of the front seat. The truck has both a passenger air bag and a driver air bag and we cannot turn them off. We cannot get a new car.
My question is who will be safest in the middle of the front seat?
(My children are pretty average in size except the 4-year old is a little small)
if you saw where we lived, you would not ask why we have a truck. & this was not a planned pregnancy.

What is the right age for a child to be in the booster seat in the car ?
Im due in the fall and my stepson currently is in a car seat that is a toddler seat snaps over the head. His mother had given me one that she used and he climbed out of it once while he was in the car with me. So I gave that back to her and bought a safer one. Should I wait a little longer until hes totally ready or should I go by age or weight or what ? When he climbed out he was about 2 yrs 6 mths hes now 3 yrs 2 mths & will be about 3 yrs 5 mths when babys born…

designed for newborns and then later as they get to be 6 months & on up (cause they can sit up better) do you get a bigger one, i want to buy a car seat for son and his wife’s baby soon-to-be-born, and not sure what size to get. i know i don’t need a booster car seat cause that is more for toddlers
thank you for all your answers – very informative.

My daughter is 38 lbs & 3 1/2 years old (big for her age). She is in a Britax Marathon right now, and her shoulders are right at the top strap, really close to going over. We have a Britax Parkway high-back booster ready for her when she grows out of the Marathon. She seems to fit in it really well (we haven’t tried it in the car, just had her sit in it) but I don’t know if it’s best to keep her in the car seat or the booster. I am afraid she is too big for the car seat, but am nervous about moving her to the booster. What is safest? I worry the car seat will not be strong enough to hold her in an accident (we bought it new in 2004). I’m going to talk with a fireman before switching but want to know what you all think. Thank you!
