Is my 2 year old ready for this booster car seat?
My friend bought my daughter a booster car seat for her birthday; she is about to be two in October. All the seats we have tried, she is too big for.
This one says 3 – 10 years (uhhh, 10??) but it also says: 30-100lbs and 38" to 57" tall.
My daughter is 39lbs and 37" tall.
What do you think?

If it is just a regular high back booster seat that uses the seat belt I would say no. Even though your daughter is big for her age doesnt mean her bones are developed like an older child. They have the carseats for 5-80 pounds or 20-80 pounds that should fit her. I would also check with your local police or fire dept about the laws in your area. In NC. they are strict on car seats and safety of the kids. And kids here have to be in a booster seat until they are 8 years old. If it is honestly that she is too big for a car seat I would get a profesional view of the situation. Better safe than sorry when it comes to your kids. Good luck!

Well honestly my son Liam was the same we waited till he was 3 just because sometimes they put that on the box just to make money. And just to be safe, so i woudn’t.

Kids should be always be in a car seat or Booster seat until 8 years old or 5 feet tall!!!!!
The best time to put a child in a booster seat is when they are old enough not to unfasten their seat belt at the wrong time (while car is still running). Another best time to put a child in a booster seat ia at least 4 ft and over the age of 4

I just put my 3 year old in a booster seat that uses the seat belt in the car and the only trouble I am having is she doesn’t grasp the fact that she can’t mess with the seat belt and put it under her arm and pull on it. I threaten that she will have to go back to the baby seat with the harness straps and she will sit still and leave it alone. I would just be weary if you have no straps in the seat and use the car’s seat belt b/c it is easier to unbuckle themselves.

I just recently bought my daughter a new car seat. She was in the baby ones, but forward facing. She was getting too long for it, as she is a tall child. She is 22 months now, but ive had the new seat for probably a month.
where i am, in australia, there are laws about car seats. A child cannot be in a booster seat (just the plain foam ones where you just put the seat belt on them) till they are 4. The baby seats, are used from birth to 18kg. (which they say to use from birth till 3) which i dont know how thats possible.
anyways, i bought my daughter the seats that are in between a baby seat and booster seat. Its got the normal seat belts in baby seats (the over the shoulder that clip in between the legs) and it has arm rests and stuff like that. It says it can be used from 8kg to 20kg. And when your child is bigger you remove those seat belts and just get a harness.
I find the seat great. My daughter loves it. Id sayyour child will need a seat with the proper infant seat belts (over the shoulder ones that clip up in between the legs) and one thats not too upright and has padding. she is two young to just have a seat with the normal car seat belt, this is not safe enough. I will find a picture and add it on here of the seat i have so you can get an idea of what i mean. Bit hard to explain lol

If you do not know of seats, go to your local baby store and ask, they have to know ages and what size seat they have. If not go to your locat road and traffic authority and ask..

Check the laws in your state. Many states currently require children to be in a regular car seat until they’re at least 4 years old and at least 40 pounds. Quite a few states also require children to be in a booster seat until they are either 8 years old or 4’9" tall.
You definitely need to keep your daughter in a regular car seat for a while longer for her safety.

Go ask your local police department and/or set up a car safety seat inspection with them. We go twice a year for our two children. They will let you know what is safe for children.

I would probably say no to the booster seat as well. When children are 2 years old, they should still be forward facing in their car seat i’d believe. I would research for a car seat that holds more weight for forward facing. Then at around 3 years switch to that booster seat.
